The UK government has committed £36 million to significantly enhance the computing power of the DAWN supercomputer at the University of Cambridge, set to increase its capacity sixfold by spring 2026. This expansion is part of the AI Research Resource (AIRR), which provides free access to high-performance computing resources for researchers and tech start-ups across the UK.
The DAWN supercomputer, already one of the UK’s most powerful AI systems, has been instrumental in supporting over 350 research projects.
